Emma Earth Tales

Storytelling for all

I’m a storyteller.

Folk tales. Fairy Tales. Wonder tales. Tales of legend. Tales of myth.

Tales of joy, curiosity & suspense. Tales to make you laugh, wonder & (sometimes) despair.

Tales which transport you to another time, another place. Tales to uplift. Tales to inspire. Tales to sooth the soul.

Tales for children. Tales for adults. Tales for you.

Stories for all

I tell traditional tales from around the world to children and adults. Depending on the audience and the tale, simple puppets and interactive elements weave their magic into my stories. Story telling with children always involves active involvement. Story games are possible too.

Researching new stories is a joy, not a chore! I search for stories to suit your event, which echo your aims and theme.

For schools, I find stories which meet curriculum needs. Literacy & numeracy elements can be woven in, providing fun and creative learning, or perhaps simply an end of term treat.

Telling Tales

My storytelling includes telling tales in the bright and beautiful kids’ space at Buddhafield Festival, at holiday schemes run by Southwark’s Spring Community Hub, at London primary & nursery schools, on adult spoken word stages at Buddhafield & Glastonbury Festivals, at London open mic events Elephant Tales and Tales at the Tavern, with older adults at The Peel in Islington and a variety of other community events and venues.

I am a proud member of the team which runs the lovely Elephant Tales (formerly Storytelling Co-Operative), a monthly storytelling event in South London, initially set up by one of London’s leading storytellers Vanessa Wolf of London Dreamtime.

Aside from a childhood full of bedtime stories and adult life filled with books, fringe theatre and workshops, my initial story training was with the magical & inspirational storyteller Roi Gal-Or of The International School of Storytelling at Emerson College (Craft of the Storyteller course, 2021).

Storytelling adds sparkle, entertainment and creative learning (where desired) to private parties, events, schools, community centres, youth clubs and corporate events.

Questions?

Hopefully you’ll find the answer here. If not, drop me a line.

  • I’m based in Twickenham, South West London. I primarily cover Greater London & parts of Surrey (the parts closest to SW London). I sometimes travel further to tell tales, sometimes far from home.

I use public transport, where possible. For journeys outside London’s Zone 5, or further than a 1-hour drive, an extra travel charge will be added to my fee (distance dependant).

  • I tell stories which are aimed at early years and above, including young people and adults. I choose stories and adapt my style of telling to best suit the age range (and other needs) of my audiences. Stories can be interspersed with short, storytelling games which are suitable for children and young people. Even adults. Yes, really!

The ideal story session length, approach and content differs according to age and setting. We will discuss and agree the best approach for your event at the time of booking.

  • Well really, this is up to you!

Your story session can be broken down into whichever way best suits your event - tiny tales, short stories, mini-epics & interactive storytelling games are all options on my storytelling menu.

  • My fees are £150 for up to 1 hour. Longer story sessions are possible too - contact me to discuss.

  • I am a member of the Society for Storytelling (UK) and I hold an Enhanced DBS check.
